“Abandon those who make their religion a game and a joke, and they have been deceived by the life of the world. Warn (them) with the Qur’an so that everyone does not fall (into hell), because of their own actions. There is no protector or intercessor (help) for him except Allah. And if he wants to make any kind of ransom, it will certainly not be accepted. These are the people who were plunged (into hell), because of their own actions. They will drink from boiling water and suffer a painful punishment because of their previous disbelief.” (QS. Al-An’am 6: Verse 70)
Leave behind those who make their religion a game and a joke, and they have been deceived by the life of the world
In the brief interpretation of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia / Surat Al-An’am Verse 70 explains; To strengthen Allah’s guidance in dealing with disobedient people, especially those who like to insult His religious teachings, this verse reiterates the need to stay away from them. And leave behind those who make their religion a game, ridicule and joke, and those who have been deceived by the luxury and glitter of worldly life. However, don’t abandon them altogether. Warn them with the Qur’an so that everyone can obtain Allah’s mercy and not fall into hell because of their own actions.
In the afterlife, there is no protector or intercessor or help for him other than Allah. And if he wants to redeem any kind of ransom and whatever amount, the ransom will certainly not be accepted. These are the people who were thrown into hell because of their own actions. They received a drink from boiling water and a painful punishment because of the disbelief they continued to practice while in the world. Allah’s guidance to Muslims in dealing with polytheists is continued in this verse, especially when facing their invitation to return to the teachings of their ancestors.
Say, O prophet Muhammad and every Muslim, will we, the Muslims, beg and worship something other than Allah, which can neither benefit nor bring harm to us, and will we be returned to the past, namely our past before believing? by apostasy leaving the religion of Islam, after Allah had guided us, like a person who had been led astray by Satan on earth, in a state of confusion’ then his friends from those who had believed invited him to the straight path by saying, leave the worship of other than Allah and follow us .
But he still refused, so say, O prophet and Muslims, if that is your choice, then know that Allah’s guidance is the true guidance; and that is why we are commanded to submit ourselves to the God of all nature. And we are also commanded to perform prayers fervently, with perfect conditions and pillars, and with istikamah in doing them, and to be devoted to Him. And He is the God to whom you will all be gathered to be accountable for all your deeds. Polytheists or non-Muslims who call for apostasy in the verse above are compared to disturbing demons, and people who end up apostasy are likened to people who have lost their minds or gone crazy. The invitation to the truth in the way of Allah is the true guidance.
Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam reminded us not to be too deceived by worldly life, joke a lot or laugh out loud, if we knew about the afterlife, humans should cry a lot instead of joking, let alone joking about religion and Allah’s verses;
message ُ لَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا وَلَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا
“By the Essence of Muhammad who is in His hands, if you knew what I know, of course you would cry a lot and laugh a little.” (Issued by Imam Bukhari No. 6,637)
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam said that if we knew what he knew. What does he know? Namely about the terrible punishment of the grave, about the terrible punishment of the Day of Judgment, about the terrible punishment of hell fire, about the terrible punishment of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, you will definitely cry more than you laugh.
This shows that we as servants are important and absolutely obliged to really know about the nature of the afterlife. Because the afterlife is the essence of our life. We will not be in this world for long, we are in a temporary world.
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ
“And every soul will surely taste that death.” (QS. Ali-Imran[3]: 185).
Prayer protects from the punishment of hell;
God willing سَنةً وَّ قِنَا عَذَا بَ النَّا رِ
“Our Lord, give us goodness in this world and goodness in the hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of hell.” (QS. Al-Baqarah 2: Verse 201)
