Teaching children at school doesn’t need to be limited to whiteboards, class, or even textbook. School activities can be educational but also very fun and enjoyable, that is what we want to achieve here at Al Ma’soem Elementary School. With our Days Program
, every students of Al Ma’soem Elementary School are encouraged to be active, courageous, confident and smart.
There was something different at Al Ma’soem Elementary School that day (12/10) there was excitement you could feel from the students. You could see that the Panggung Kreasi was nicely decorated, the yard was so lively and you could also see some students gathered around a few foreigners. It was English Day at Al Ma’soem Elementary School. On this day not only the students but all of their teachers are supposed to speak English at school. And not only that, the students are encouraged to perform at the Panggung Kreasi to represent their respective class. Each class had prepared a performance beforehand to show it to their friends, so it was really fun to watch all those students performing all kinds of activities at Panggung Kreasi.
This English Day Program is a routine activity that the school held after mid-test and final-test. The native teacher who was present at that time was Matthew, he is an English teacher. Mat is a Canadian, he sometimes shows the students here about the culture in his country. The few foreigners I mentioned earlier were in fact Mat’s Family, and in case any of you didn’t know, Matthew Russel is one of our new native English teachers here in Yayasan Pendidikan Al Ma’soem. In order to celebrate Al Ma’soem elementary school program, which is English Day, Mat invited his family along (of course with the permission from the principle) to come to school where he teach and have them interact with the children here. The idea was to have the students experience firsthand how to interact with many foreigners.
